Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Permian Playhouse will not be offering a full semester of Kaleidoscope Company classes or KC Elite. Instead, we will offer a series of workshops for middle school and high school students to develop skills in  theatre. Each workshop is $25, will have a maximum enrollment of 25 students, and will be held at the Permian Playhouse, 6-7:15 pm. Face masks will be worn and temperatures taken at the door.  Students with a temperature 100 degrees and above will be sent home. Instructors will monitor social distancing and hand sanitation.

Workshops are divided into two groups. KC 101 is for grades 6-8th grades, while KC 201 are for 9-12th grades.

Workshops:
September 8: KC 101 Acting. Instructors: Blake Rogers and Kaylee Cerda. In this workshop, KC 101 students will cover the basics of auditioning, researching and performing a role on stage. They will explore each of these areas with Robert Cohen’s method of GOTE, which allows an actor to prepare for a performance using his/her own judgment.


September 15: KC 201 Acting. Instructors: Blake Rogers and Kaylee Cerda.In this acting workshop, KC 201 students will cover the same material as the KC 101 Acting workshop, but will explore other techniques of acting such as classical acting, The Checkhov technique, method acting, and improvisation.


September 22: KC 101 Voice. Instructor: Emily Baker. In this workshops students will work on proper singing posture and breath support, while singing in harmony with expression.

September 29: KC 201 Voice. Instructor: Emily Baker. In this workshop, students will build upon the concepts of singing posture and breath support, using more difficult music with up to four-part singing, depending on the voice parts of the students present.

October 6: KC 101 Dance/Movement. Instructor: Cesar Mendoza. In this workshop, students will learn body movement for the stage.

October 13: KC 201 Dance/Movement. Instructor: Cesar Mendoza. In this workshop, students will learn advanced body movement for the stage.

October 20: KC 101 Makeup. Instructor: Alexa Nease. Students will learn the basics of stage makeup, the importance of theatre makeup, and the different components of a makeup kit. Students will be supplied with individual make up kits to use during the workshop, but may want to bring their own basics.


October 27: KC 201 Makeup. Instructor: Alexa Nease. Students will review basic makeup practices for the stage and experiment with enhancing makeup for various stage effects. Students will be supplied with individual make up kits to use during the workshop, but may want to bring their own basics.

To register, please select the link to the left for each workshop and follow the directions to pay the fee for the workshop. Registration begins August 24. Please include a parent/guardian's email, so that we can email the workshop packet which must be completed and returned at the time of the workshop. Students can enroll in all four workshops in their age group or pick and choose. However, only 6-8th grade are eligible for KC 101 workshops and grades 9-12 are eligible for KC 201 workshops.
