THE POND 2018 - 2019

Exciting changes at the Permian Playhouse Theatre School, aka "THE POND" this year. We are so happy to be offering two classes for each age group this year.

Classes will be identical, so families can commit to the times that best fit their schedules.

Registration is a two step process,

1) Fill out the registration form (one per student)

2)Make the payment

 Semester Tuition is $150.00 (A Deposit of $75.00 must be paid to hold a spot and the final $75 must be paid on or before October 5th), Or you can pay $250.00 now for the year for a $50 savings.

 If you prefer to register in person you may do so at the Permian Playhouse office 10am - 6pm Monday - Friday, or on our Mandatory Parent & Student Orientation Night on Thursday September 6th at 6pm.

Orientation will be held at the Permian Playhouse 310 W 42nd Odessa, TX.
​Weekly classes will be held at Crossroads Fellowship 6901 E Highway 191, Odessa, TX.

Theatre School Teachers 

​Samantha Leal  Leal- Murray 

Samantha has been doing theatre since the young age of 5. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a focus in Acting and Stage Management. While she was at Baylor she became certified in Rapier and Dagger stage combat and unarmed stage combat with Society of American Fight Directors. She now teaches Theatre at Milam Magnet Elementary. Samantha has been on the stage at the Globe as well as the Playhouse. Ranging from Stage managers, run crew members, Board operator, as well as actor Her last Role on the Playhouse stage was Jeannette in Almost Maine. Her last role at the Globe was Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet 2014 


​Jon Murray

Jon Murray is a History Major at UTPB and will be graduating in December 2019. He currently works at ECISD in the Electrical Department. Jon has been in theatre since 2001. He has directed many shows including Little Shop of Horrors, Romeo and Juliet, and many more over the years. He is currently directing The Giver at the Playhouse this fall. He has also been on stage as Wadsworth in Clue, Lloyd in Noises Off, and last scene as Lyndale in Almost Maine. He has been in many shows, onstage and off. He has participated in theatre at the Globe Theatre, Baylor Theatre, and Permian Playhouse. Jon has also stage managed, built sets, built props, designed lights, and running the sound board. He is a jack-of-all-trades.   


Cristi Lloyd

Cristi is originally from Andrews, Texas but spent the majority of her life in Austin where she was fully immersed in the arts from an early age. After completing high school, she had the opportunity to work with several theaters in Austin such as Theatre En Bloc and The Zach Scott Theatre. Cristi also took a summer to study in London and train with the Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre and several more. After directing the first two student-run productions (Equus and The Laramie Project) at Austin Community College, she returned to the Permian Basin where she directed the first and only student-run production (The Laramie Project:Ten Years Later) at Odessa College while also Stage Managing the six most recent productions from the theatre department. Latest stage credits include serving as both actor and Stage Manager for Almost, Maine, Makeup Artist for Aladdin Jr., and Stage Manager for Annie, all at her new home, The Permian Playhouse.


Karime Gutierrez

Karime is currently pursuing an associates degree in performing arts. She have been in the Odessa College Theatre program for over a year now and absolutely loves it. She graduated high school from Odessa High  where she was part of the theatre production program. She have been in several shows as an actress but the past couple of shows she has focused primarily on tech and house crew. This past summer karma was the Assistant Camp Director for our Aladdin Jr Summer Camp, and the kids just loved her. Karime has been part of the theatre world for over 8 years and looks forward to many more.


Joseph Ward

Joseph is from Andrews Texas and graduated from Andrews High School. Joseph has been involved in Theater for 8 years and been apart of 20+ shows in his career as an actor. More recently he was seen In Annie at the Permian Play House as Rooster Hannagan. Before the Play House he Went To West Texas A&M and was involved in shows such as Hamlet, Big Love and Jane Eyre. After Attending WTAMU for a Year Joseph Moved back to Odessa to Work in the Odessa college theater department. While he was studying OC he could be seen as John Proctor in The Crucible, Charlie Baker in The Foreigner, And Ken Harrison in Whose Life is It Anyway.


Aaron Calloway

Aaron was raised in Andrews, TX and began doing theatre at Andrews High School in shows such as Larry Shue’s praised, and hilarious “The Foreigner” as Froggy, and Mark Twain’s farcical comedy “Is He Dead?” as Chicago, and a local adaptation of Mary Shelly’s classic tragedy “Frankenstein” as DeLacy/Father Frankenstein. Throughout this time, he also attended two theatre camps, one at West Texas A&M where he starred in a performance of the children’s dust bowl era drama, “Storm in The Barn” as guitar playing bartender, Ernie, and another camp at Texas Tech University where he starred in the tragic, holocaust story of “Ghetto” as Jewish ventriloquist, Srulik. After graduating high school  he attended Odessa College where he performed as Dr. Michael Emerson in “Whose Life is it Anyway?”, and Captain Arthur Keller in “The Miracle Worker”. More recently he has taken to the Permian Playhouse stage in the production of “Almost, Maine”, as Chad, and to the backstage area for the production of Annie.
